Alternate nostril breathing is another balancing technique that’s great for mental clarity and balancing the hemispheres of the brain, either in preparation for meditation or when you need some mental clarity and focus. The ideal ratio is 1:4:2 however it's more important to stay relaxed than try to hold your inhale too long and get short of breath. As you incorporate inhale retention this technique becomes more energising.
